Veterans Ride free on Warrior’s Day

With Warriors’ Day coming up at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) on Saturday August 16th, 2014, veterans will once again get to ride free on many Greater Toronto Area (GTA) transit agencies.

Agencies offering free rides include:

GO Transit: Veterans and one companion ride free, as do relatives of a deceased veteran.  Veterans should wear something (i.e. a medal or uniform) that signals that they are a veteran.

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC):  Veterans can ride for free on Warriors’ Day and Remembrance Day.  Veterans should show their medals or ribbons.

Brampton Transit: Veterans can ride free all year long, as long as they have filled out the appropriate paperwork with the agency.

Durham Region Transit: Veterans ride for free.

Guelph Transit, Grand River Transit:  Both agencies offer free rides to veterans everyday.

Mississauga Transit (MiWay):  Veterans can ride for free on Warriors’ Day and Remembrance Day while wearing their uniform, medal, or other identification as a veteran.

York Region Transit:  Veterans and one companion ride for free.  The immediate family of a deceased veteran also may ride for free.

As usual, please double check with your local transit agency prior to using their system.
