Yesterday, GO Transit has announced that it will be extending its Richmond Hill line north to a new station near the intersection of Leslie Street and Stouffville Road which will be known as Gormley.

The new station is expected to open in late 2016 and will have parking for 850 cars, a ‘kiss ‘n ride’, and a bus loop.  The current station in Richmond Hill is reaching capacity, so this new station will take some of the pressure off Richmond Hill’s station.

GO Transit has also recently built a layover facility for the trains operating on the Richmond Hill line which is located near the new station.

The work on the new station is expected to cost $20 million and was announced yesterday by Ontario Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca.  It was announced that work had already started on the new station.
